Daintree Mountain View Holiday Retreat is a spacious, homely, child friendly self contained 2 bedroom Solar Powered house set on 1.5 hectares in the heart of the Daintree Coast in Cow Bay surrounded by the World Heritage Listed Mountain Ranges of the Daintree National Park and bordering the beautiful Pristine Mountain Stream Hutchinson Creek.


The very private swimming holes are there for your enjoyment and are safe for swimming all year round; if you are lucky you may get to share your swimming hole with the local Cassowary when he comes for a drink.

Your hosts Teresa and Russell live next door and are only to happy to book any tours for you or to talk to you about the region north of the Daintree ferry called the Daintree Coast, if you are interested they can show you there Vanilla bean plantation which is one of only two, growing Vanilla beans on the Daintree Coast.

All this and only a 5 min drive to any of the 3 local Beaches, or you may just want to chill out sitting on the verandah taking in the tranquility, the Ocean Breezes and the colour changes of the World Heritage Listed Rainforest Ranges that Daintree Mountain View offers.

This area is the Largest Renewable Energy Community in Australia where you will find that the majority of homes rely on Solar Power for there electricity supply, it is also classed as an Outstanding Cassowary Habitat Zone, so keep a look out when driving around especially early morning or late afternoon these are the better times to see a Cassowary.

The coastal strip of land North of the Daintree Ferry crossing to Cape Tribulation often referred to as the Daintree Coast offers something for everyone from the most Beautiful Often deserted Beaches to Helicopter flights over the area to some of the very best Cafes and Restaurants to dine in set in a Rainforest Environment or you may want to take a walk in the Rainforest the area offers both guided and self guided walks from easy to not so easy.

Then there is the Daintree Entomological Museum where you can see one of the best Privately owned Butterfly and Bug collections on offer in Australia, or maybe cruise to the Barrier Reef on Rum Runner out of Cape Tribulation and have a day diving or snorkeling on a boat that only takes a small group [more personal] or you may like to paddle and spend the night on Snapper Island an Island with Rainforest and surrounded by Magnificent Reef or for the not so adventurous a early morning paddle and breakfast on a deserted Beach.

If fishing is what you want to do we have some of the best fishing on the Reefs just off shore and several operators to take you there or maybe chasing the famous Barramundi in the Daintree River.

For something a bit quieter the award winning Daintree Discovery Center where you can learn more about the Ancient Rainforest of the Daintree Coast, so as you can see there is heaps to do or you can just wile away the time relaxing and enjoying the Daintree Coast and yes you really do need to Stay For More Than A Day.

The Daintree Coast Community is a diverse group of residents who provide a unique perspective on living and working in the wet tropics Rainforest of Far North Queensland.

House Information

House configuration is queen size bed in main bedroom and 2 single beds in 2nd bedroom and a double futon in lounge room there is also a porta cot available.The house has a Large living ,Dinning and Kitchen area combined with a well equipped kitchen which includes a full size Refrigerator and Gas Stove with Oven also included is a gas BBQ for you to use.There also is a TV for your entertainment.Tropical fruit are available when in season from the Tropical fruit orchard.

The house is surrounded by Large cool shady Verandahs for you to enjoy a cool drink and take in the majestic panoramic views of the World Heritage Listed Alexandra Ranges.

This property is a prime location for the ardent bird watchers with many different species in the area and at specific times of the year you can see the migratory birds from New Guinea.


ON YOUR WAY - Port Douglas is less than a hours drive and good place to pick up supplies and browse the shops. A further 20 minutes north is the township of Mossman. The Mossman Gorge National Park is a must-see on your way past with its spectacular mix of lush rainforest canopies and crystal clear streams.
